Separate particles from gases

Cooking produces both particles and volatile compounds. A particle filter can reduce smoke particles, while activated carbon addresses some gaseous compounds and odor molecules.

Because many compact purifiers use only a thin carbon layer, heavy odor control is a tougher task than particle removal.

Placement and ventilation come first

Use the range hood when possible, especially for high-heat cooking. Put the purifier near the affected zone without blocking its intake or placing it directly in a grease plume.

In an open-plan room, size for the full connected air volume rather than the kitchen footprint alone.

Watch replacement cost

Cooking environments can load pre-filters and carbon faster. If the filter is expensive or difficult to replace, long-term ownership cost rises quickly.

Choose a system with readily available filters and inspect the pre-filter often.
